Run a blood lactate step or field test, enter each meter reading and heart rate as you go, and get the curve, LT1 and LT2, training zones and a coaching report.
In shortCoach Lactate Lab is a blood lactate testing tool in the Athleet.Ai coach editions for endurance sport. A coach chooses a step test, a field test or a threshold confirmation, types in each lactate reading and heart rate from any meter as the test runs, and gets the lactate curve, the first and second lactate thresholds (LT1 and LT2), training zones and a coaching report. Results stay on the coach's device.
Treadmill and bike step tests with timed stages, and a track step test of progressive 1200 metre repetitions.
A middle-distance test of six progressive 800 metre repetitions, and an endurance test of five progressive 1000 metre repetitions.
A 30 minute run at the estimated LT2, sampled at 10, 20 and 30 minutes, confirms a steady state when lactate rises by 1.0 mmol/L or less.
Each threshold is worked out by several standard methods and the lab shows where they agree. The headline LT2 is the modified D-max for step tests and the 4.0 mmol/L point for repetition tests, given as a speed, pace or power with a heart rate.
Zones are set from the athlete's own thresholds, as speeds, paces or power with matching heart rates.
What the curve shows, how the thresholds compare with earlier tests, and what it means for training.
Pick a step test, a field test or a threshold confirmation. Each comes with a standard plan you can adjust: starting speed or power, the step, the number of stages and the recovery.
At each stage type in the lactate reading from your meter and the heart rate. Any lactate meter works, because the readings are entered by hand.
The lab draws the lactate curve, marks LT1 and LT2, and checks the test was long enough to find them.
Training zones and a coaching report follow from the athlete's own thresholds, ready to plan from.

Any. Readings are typed in by hand from the meter as the test runs.
Each is worked out by several standard methods. LT1 uses the baseline plus 0.5 and plus 1.0 mmol/L, the log-log breakpoint and the 2.0 mmol/L point. For LT2 the headline is the modified D-max for step tests and the 4.0 mmol/L point for repetition tests. The curve-based methods need at least five stages, and the lab says when a test was too short for them.
Treadmill, track and bike step tests, a middle-distance field test of 6 x 800 metres, an endurance field test of 5 x 1000 metres, and a 30 minute threshold confirmation.
Run 30 minutes at the estimated LT2 and take samples at 10, 20 and 30 minutes. If lactate rises by 1.0 mmol/L or less between 10 and 30 minutes, the athlete held a steady state.
On the coach's device. Nothing about the athlete is uploaded.
It is in the coach tools of the Track and Field and Triathlon Editions.
No. Coach Lactate Lab is part of the Coach, Small Club and Club plans in the editions that carry it.
