Young athletes and safeguarding

Many of the people Athleet.Ai is used for are children and young people. This page sets out who can hold an account, what the tools will and will not do, what happens to information and video, and who to contact. It is written so that a coach can hand it to a club welfare officer.

Who can hold an account

What the tools do, and do not do

If a child is at risk

Every tool carries the same instruction. If someone describes or hints at harm, abuse, neglect, bullying, self-harm or disordered eating, the tool stops, responds with care, says plainly that it is not monitored by a person and cannot get help, and points to a trusted adult, a club welfare officer and the helplines below, or to local services for someone outside the United Kingdom. It does not investigate or advise on the situation itself.

The tools are not a way to report a concern. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. Children and young people can call Childline free on 0800 1111. Adults worried about a child can call the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000. In a club, speak to the welfare officer. Those are United Kingdom services: outside the United Kingdom, contact your local child protection service or helpline, or your local emergency number.

Information and who processes it

For coaches and club welfare officers

If you coach young people with Athleet.Ai: use your own account, not a child's; enter no more about a child than the tool needs (first name or initials, age group, what they did this week); do not enter medical records or safeguarding concerns; and treat every output as a draft for you to check. The decision, and the duty of care, stay with you and your club.
